The Managed Way To Replace ClickSend

Two-way conversation that stays inside Zoho. Replies land on the record, and nothing about your customers leaves your own Zoho account: no vendor dashboard, no copy of your data, no phone home. Send one message or send to a whole list, and every reply lands back on the record in SMS History.

What makes it different

  • Nothing phones home
  • Two way, not one way
  • Your Twilio, your rates
  • Personalized at any volume
  • Every number, not just one
  • History follows the record

The short version

Why teams pick Cascadia over ClickSend

ClickSend retired its SMS integration for Zoho CRM on 31 December 2025, and now points Zoho users at its own Automation Builder or at Sinch. Bolt on a texting connector and the usual arrangement is that your customer records get copied out to an outside platform so it can do the sending and keep the thread.

What our team takes on

Bookkeeping tools tend to assume every conversation happens over email.

Every number, not just one

Records rarely hold a single phone number. The extension detects every phone field on a contact or account, including custom ones, and lets you choose which to text.

History follows the record

Conversations attach to the customer rather than to whichever document started them. An estimate becomes an invoice, the invoice runs late, and a statement goes out at month end, and all of it reads as one thread.

Nothing phones home

We hold no copy and run no dashboard on our side. There is nothing for us to lose in a breach and nothing for you to ask us to delete, because we were never holding it.

Two way, not one way

Accounting systems are built to send documents out, not to hold a conversation. This one captures the reply.

Who this comparison is for

Bookkeepers waiting on unpaid invoices

A text gets answered the same day. Whoever is chasing payment sends straight from the invoice or the customer record without leaving Zoho Books, and the reply is written back to the same place.

Bookkeepers chasing receipts and missing paperwork

A short text gets answered when a third follow up email does not, and templates plus dynamic fields mean the message writes itself from the record. Schedule it for the morning a payment falls due.

Firms accountable for how client records are held

Financial records draw the most careful questions, and the honest answer here is that no outside system holds them. The extension executes inside your Zoho Books account, and messages leave through Twilio credentials that belong to you.

How the Zoho Books SMS integration works

Four steps, and none of them involve standing anything up. You install the extension from the Zoho Marketplace, connect your Twilio credentials, and start texting from a record.

  1. 1

    We assess your current setup

First we look at how things run today: what you already pay for, what is configured where, and which parts are actually causing you trouble.

  2. 2

    Install from the Zoho Marketplace

Find the extension on the Zoho Marketplace and install it into your organization the same way you would any other.

  3. 3

    Connect your own Twilio account

Paste your Twilio credentials into the setup screen and pick the numbers you want to send from.

  4. 4

Text a record and watch the reply land

Open a contact or account, pick a number, and send. Use a saved template if it is a message you send often, and dynamic fields fill in the details from the record.

The difference that matters

No second account, no second system

Both options give you two-way texting on your Zoho Books records, and on paper the feature lists look similar. The difference is architectural. ClickSend is a messaging platform you sign up for, and your conversations run through it. Ours is built in Deluge and runs inside your own Zoho account against your own Twilio credentials, so there is no ClickSend account to hold, no vendor dashboard to log into, and no copy of your customer data anywhere but Zoho.

If your objection to texting from Zoho Books has ever been “who else ends up holding this data”, that is the question this answers.

See Twilio SMS for Zoho Books
We already use ClickSend. What changes here?

What changes is that no data phones home to a vendor. We hold no copy and run no dashboard on our side. There is nothing for us to lose in a breach and nothing for you to ask us to delete, because we were never holding it.

Does any of our data leave Zoho?

No. The extension is built in Deluge and runs inside your own Zoho account, using your own Twilio credentials. Message content stays in your SMS History module, and we have no access to it.

Which records can I text from?

Contacts and accounts. You text the people on the record rather than a document, which means the conversation belongs to the customer relationship rather than to one invoice or one estimate. That keeps the thread readable as documents come and go over the life of the account.

Can I send a text to more than one customer at once?

Yes. Select the records you want and compose the message once. Everybody selected receives it, and each send is logged against that individual record rather than into one shared pile. Bulk sending to a saved list or view is also supported, which is easier when the same group gets messaged on a regular basis.

Where do replies show up?

In the SMS History module, as a new entry linked to the record that replied. You do not have to copy anything across or check a separate inbox. Because history is attached to the record itself, anyone who picks up that account later can read the full exchange without asking around for context.

Can you see my messages or my accounting records?

No. The extension has no phone home capability. It runs inside your Zoho environment and does not transmit your records, phone numbers, or message content to us. We hold no copy of any of it, and there is no vendor side dashboard collecting data in the background. This is the main structural difference between this extension and most alternatives.

Where does the extension actually run?

Entirely on the Zoho platform, written in Deluge. There is no embedded third party interface, no external web application, and no separate service your data has to travel through. Everything happens inside your own Zoho Books deployment, which keeps the data boundary simple to explain to a security reviewer or an auditor.

Can I personalize messages with fields from a record?

Yes. Dynamic text pulls values straight out of Zoho Books and drops them into the message body when it is sent. Customer name, invoice number, amount, or due date can all be used. That means a reminder going out to two hundred accounts still reads as though it was written for each one individually.

Can I save messages and reuse them?

Yes. Templates let you save the messages you send most often and pick one instead of typing it again. Templates work alongside dynamic fields, so a saved message still fills in each recipient’s own details at send time. It removes most of the retyping from routine work like payment reminders and statement follow ups.

What if a record has several phone numbers?

The extension detects every phone field on the record rather than assuming a single default. If a contact has ten numbers on file, all of them are available and you choose which ones to text. That matters for records where the mobile number sits in a custom field rather than the standard one.

Can I schedule a message for later?

Yes. Compose the message now and set the date and time it should go out. The send happens at the moment you chose rather than the moment you were at your desk, which is useful for time zones, business hours, and anything that needs to land on a particular day such as the morning a payment falls due.
