Switching From Gusto To A Team That Runs It
Most HR work goes wrong in the gaps, the onboarding step nobody owns, the leave balance calculated by hand, the timesheet that never reaches payroll. Managed Zoho People puts employee records, onboarding, attendance, leave, timesheets, and reviews in one system we configure and run for you. We build your policies into the software, connect it to payroll, and keep it correct as your headcount and rules change.
With Cascadia you get
- We configure your actual policies
- Onboarding that runs without reminders
- Time that reaches payroll
- Permissions set on purpose
- Your account, your data
- Connected to the rest of Zoho
The short version
Cascadia, compared with Gusto

What the managed part actually means
Get one wrong and an employee finds it before you do. So the configuration is tested against real cases before anybody relies on it, including the ones that only happen twice a year.
Permissions set on purpose
We configure roles so managers see their own team and nothing further, restrict compensation and medical fields, and set document sharing deliberately.
Your account, your data
Every employee record, document, and workflow lives inside your own Zoho subscription under your company name. Nothing sits behind an agency account, so there is no export to negotiate and no leverage held over you.
Connected to the rest of Zoho
We link People to Zoho Recruit so a hire becomes an employee record without rekeying, tie it to CRM where staffing drives commissions, and push headcount and turnover into Zoho Analytics for reporting.
We configure your actual policies
Your leave rules are not the ones in the setup wizard. We build your accrual schedules, carryover caps, waiting periods, and approval chains into the system, then test them against real scenarios before an employee ever sees a balance.
Who this comparison is for
Companies outgrowing spreadsheet HR
Somewhere past twenty people, the spreadsheet stops being good enough and starts being a liability.
Multi location and multi state employers
Different states mean different leave requirements, holiday calendars, and work weeks, and one generic policy will eventually be wrong for somebody.
Businesses running hourly and shift staff
We configure rotations and schedules, set check in by web, mobile with location, or biometric device, and build regularization so a missed punch becomes a request instead of an email chain.
How our managed Zoho People service works
Whether you are moving off spreadsheets or inheriting a Zoho People account somebody configured two years ago, the sequence is the same. We get the records and the daily use right first, then the policies, then everything else.
- 1
We assess your current setup
First we look at how things run today: what you already pay for, what is configured where, and which parts are actually causing you trouble.
- 2
We audit and load your people data
We check the result against your own records before anybody relies on it, because a balance that is wrong by two days costs more trust than the migration saved.
- 3
We build the policies and workflows
Next come the rules that make the system yours, meaning leave accruals and caps, holiday calendars and work weeks, attendance and shift patterns, onboarding and offboarding flows, and the permission model that decides who sees what.
- 4
We keep it correct as you change
From there you get the ongoing work, meaning policy changes configured when you make them, new hires and exits running through the workflows, payroll mapping checked every cycle, and a monthly summary of headcount, turnover, leave liability, and anything still open.

What Gusto does, in their own words

Gusto alternative questions
Straight answers about switching, pricing, and what moves with you.
See Managed Zoho PeopleHow is Cascadia different from Gusto?
The main difference is that a team sets your permissions on purpose. We configure roles so managers see their own team and nothing further, restrict compensation and medical fields, and set document sharing deliberately. You decide who sees what, and it gets written down.
How is Zoho People different from Zoho Payroll?
They do different jobs and they work together. Zoho People is the HR system, holding employee records, leave, attendance, timesheets, and performance. Zoho Payroll calculates and pays wages and handles tax filing. People feeds Payroll the approved time and leave that determines what somebody gets paid. We configure that connection and check the mapping each cycle so a leave policy change does not quietly break a pay run.
How does Zoho People compare to BambooHR or Gusto?
Zoho People covers a wider range of HR functions than most tools at its price, particularly attendance, shift management, timesheets, and performance. Where it wins clearly is integration, because your CRM, accounting, help desk, and HR sit in one suite with one login and one data model. Where dedicated platforms sometimes lead is polish and out of the box US payroll and benefits. The setup work is what closes that gap, and that is what we do.
Can you migrate our HR data out of spreadsheets?
Yes, and that is where most of these projects start. We take your employee spreadsheets, leave balance trackers, and document folders, map them to the right fields, and load them so history comes across rather than starting everyone at zero. We check the result against your records before anybody relies on it, because a leave balance that is wrong by two days will cost you more trust than the migration saved.
How long does Zoho People implementation take?
For a straightforward setup with clean employee data, expect the core system running in two to four weeks. Employee records, org structure, leave policies, and attendance come first, then onboarding workflows, then performance and training once people are using the system daily. Complicated leave rules, multiple locations, or messy source data extend that. We sequence it so you get the parts people use every day working first.
Will Zoho People handle our leave policies?
In our experience yes, including accrual schedules, carryover caps, waiting periods, unlimited policies, and different rules per location or employee group. Leave configuration is the single most common thing companies get wrong on their own, because the rules interact in ways that only show up months later at year end. We build the rules, then test them against real scenarios before employees see a balance.
Can employees use it from their phones?
Yes. Zoho People has mobile apps for iOS and Android where employees check in and out, request leave and see balances, submit timesheets, view the directory, and complete assigned tasks and training. Managers approve from the same app. We configure what the mobile experience shows and, where you need it, set location based check in so field and site staff can record attendance from where they actually work.
Does it work for hourly and shift workers?
Yes, and that is one of its stronger areas. We configure shift patterns, rotations, and schedules, set the check in method that suits the work, whether that is web, mobile with location, or a biometric device, and build regularization rules so a missed punch gets corrected through a request rather than an email chain. Approved hours then flow through to payroll without retyping.
Who can see sensitive employee information?
Exactly who you decide. We configure roles and permissions so managers see their own team and nothing beyond it, restrict compensation and sensitive fields to the people who need them, and set document sharing deliberately rather than leaving defaults in place. HR data is the most sensitive data most companies hold, so we treat the permission model as part of the build rather than an afterthought.
What if we already have Zoho People set up badly?
That is a common starting point and it is usually fixable. We audit what is there, find what is misconfigured or abandoned, and tell you plainly what is worth repairing versus rebuilding. Leave rules and permissions are the usual problem areas. We correct them without wiping the history you have accumulated, and you get a written record of what changed and why.
